Week in recap -

This week in my life with kitties...

Dorian and Gideon continue to settle.  Gideon just goes with the flow where Dorian doesn't enjoy change.
In protest of change, Dorian will wander around meowing. It sounds a lot like the word "nooo nooo noooo".

Gideon continues to walk up to me while I'm sleeping or laying on my comfy bed minding my own business, he will then curl his foot up and attempt to paw at my head.  Dad steps in and says "ah ah ah no kitty!", Gideon will then run off.

I still find my best line of defense is to play possum and ignore the both of them.   When I'm not ignoring them, I'm busy stealing their sparkly cat toys.  I found the best toy the other day.  It was this long boa looking thing on a stick. It also had a ball on it.  FUN TIMES!  until Dad found me in the living room with it, and took it away.

The both continue to do run-byes and dive bombs near me.  I continue to mind my own business.

I haven't had any near death clawing experiences.  Auntie keeps their nails super short.  I also keep my distance - for the most part.   I've also learned that their cat bed- although it is the size of a dog bed, is not my bed.  I'm respectful of that boundry.

In a recent development.  Dad is thinking about changing my name from Milo to Jamal.  Dad said the name Jamal and I perked right up.   Dad was going through a list of words he uses with me, and there is no word that rhymes with Jamal.    Today while we were out on our morning walk, I was sniffing a spot on the grass for sometime.   Dad said to me "Come on Milo", I didn't respond. As soon as he said "Lets go Jamal", I perked right up and trotted along side Dad.

When I'm licking my feet or various parts of my body for a long enough period, Dad has said "stop it Jamal"; I whip my head around and stare at him.

I almost forgot, I went to see Gina to have my nails trimmed.  She's so great with me.  Since the corns, i haven't been overly thrilled with my front feet being played with.  I can tell you that I am thrilled when it's over.  Gina always gives me yummy treats!  :)

Thank you Gina!!!!

My life with cats

My life with cats....

CATS
Crazy
Active
Terrorizing
Special

Crazy: They are quite unpredictable. For no reason they will pounce on each other. One moment they are cleaning each other, then the next we are having a smack down wrestling match.  If they aren't in the living room they have now occupied the bathtub to host their wrestling matches.

Active: I will give them both this much - their sleeping patterns have improved.  Me, I require a good 16-18hrs a day. Current day I think they average about 8 hours.  I look forward to when they acquire  their 16-20hrs of sleep.

They run up and down the hallway using it as their personal launch pad as they attack .err.. play with each other.

Terrorizing:  I'm still working through my issues of being swatted at for NO REASON AT ALL. The only reason I can think of is just for being me. I have now learned that cats do not require a reason to do what they do.  They just do.

This morning, I was sitting near my toy basket shortly after the hallway launch pad/wrestling smack down match ended. I thought that I'd like to go outside; when along came Gideon.  He sat down in front of me and started to eyeball my feet.  He wasted no time in his attempts to terrorize me. He slowly raised his paw and tapped at mine. I disengaged and looked off to my left.  Dad stepped in and told him to knock it off, that I didn't do anything to him. With a few more half attempts at tapping he walked off.

Gideon will also casually lay against a human when they are in bed, then suddenly attack their limbs that are under the blankets. The other day he tried that with Dad.  Dad told him bad kitty and he went sprinting off the bed and down the "launch pad" area.

Special:  There's a running joke about Gideon licking a lizard.  He's sort of special. His eyes always look like they are full of wonder and sort of spacey/stoned.  He enjoys spending time in the bathtub after someone has taken a bath or shower.  He likes to watch the water drip.

I find it best to just ignore them

I got up to go outside. I didn't know which way to go. There were cats on either side/end of me. Finally I just played it cool and walked on by them....without incident.

Lots of changes this week

Last week Devin packed up and had to leave for a few days. Melissa and Nana took care of me.  Little did I know my life was going to change - for the better.
Auntie Shelley and my kitty cousins came to live with me.  Dorian is short haired and Gideon is long haired.

Dorian is a kitty that Auntie Shelley befriend over time. He lived on the streets and somehow found his way to Auntie's house.  She would feed him and slowly over time they became friends.

Gideon is a kitty that ended up on the vets doorstep in a box - with a note attached, "hi my name is Toby, can you find me a good home".

Auntie thinks he licked a lizard, because his balance is off and he looks a little spacey (most) times.

The introduction:

Auntie and Dad unloaded the kitties at our place before going over to Nana's to bring me home.  Dad placed my muzzle on me "just to be on the safe side".  It turns out the kitties needed more of the safe guarding than I did.  I didn't show any interest in either one of them.   As they flew past me, i continued to lay on my bed showing no interest at all.

The first morning we spent with each other, Dad asked me if i wanted to go outside.  I was excited and zipped around how I normally do when i'm excited about something.
That was my first mistake.  I tried to go one way, but there was a kitty, then i tried to go another way, and i was stopped by another kitty.  Dad told me to come on, so i did. That resulted in one of the kitties striking me with their evil spikes aka claws (no worries, after that incident their nails were trimmed).  Dad heard me let out a sudden bark, as I ran to my bed.  It took a moment for me to come back to the door, Dad was also slow to register that i was dripping dark blood at a decent pace. Once it registered with Dad that i was bleeding first aid was quick to follow.  Dad had to hold pressure on my slice for a bit to get the bleeding to stop.  We went out for our morning walk, i continued to bleed a wee bit more... Once we were back home things were under control.

For a few days after I was leery of my new roomies.  Dad would tell me to "go slow Milo" and I would inch by them.  After that incident we have been fine with each other.  I can zip by and they don't seem to care.

Most days Dorian spends his time on the chair or up on top of the cupboards above the fridge.
Gideon will either crate himself or wander to the chair if it isn't being occupied.

They both like sitting on the window ledge watching what I don't know.  Cats are strange like that. They just tend to stare off.  Personally, I think they are plotting their next take over.

So here are photos from the past week. PS - Dad thinks the cats need their own blog.
